Cattle Bridge Built

When you have a small farm you want to make use of every single bit of it. Down the bottom of my 10 acres was a swamy wet patch which was unusable bog in the wet season full of weeds, vine and lots of nasty bushes.

Oh and let's not forget the snakes.

I wanted to turn it all into gardens so in the dry season build up some walkways using road base which I wheel barrowed in over several weekends. Then I also wanted to be able to rotate cattle and alpacas from paddock to paddock through the area without them destroying the gardens on the way.  To do this I had to construct a new bridge that would take 500kg of black angus bull at the maximin weight as well as myself on the ride on mower.

After much digging is the stony dam wall I created the bridge pillars with half a meter of concrete at each end then use 3 by 3 meter railway sleepers to create the base of the bridge. Finally the hand rails and the deck went on and now its ready for the wet season when the creek starts flowing again.
