I decided to treat myself to a little
luxury. Truth be told I may be just getting old and the joints need a good hot
soaking but in all honesty sitting by the dam in a hot spa drinking beer is
where the real thinking and planning is done.
My design was to create the idea of “looking out” or “looking over” the farm so my hair brained idea of a torch light beam shaped area was sound but in reality much harder to execute.
Like most ideas I have its boots and all when I get going so the shape, footings and walls were up before the paving design was decided or no thought was put into the roof structure that will hold the grape vines.
I also picked an area that had bed rock close to the surface so the whole spa would not move over time our parts of it sink. What a great idea I thought until I had to dig a 60 cm deep trench for the electricity from the house to be under the spa. Six mornings, a meter a day with the crow bar and shovel and I was through, cable laid and inspected - happy days.

Every now an then you fluke something and this time the circumference was exactly 3 even lots of 2.4 meter lengths which perfectly fitted some café blinds needed to block out windy days. The roof structure, given the 5.2 meter spans, I ended up using reinforced water pipe to create the structure which will hold the grape vines.
Now it is officially opened and its off to the next project.
